Spirit Wear Sale - Wednesday, November 3 - Get suited up with Gateway spirit wear for Spirit Day!

GIVE Exchange Meeting – Wednesday, November 3 - This meeting will provide an opportunity to meet and ask questions of our guests; Superintendent Dr. Jed Bowman, Greg Davis, our counselor, and Gateway Principal Kay Lynn Waddell.   A meet and greet time with refreshments will begin at 6 p.m.

GIVE Monthly Meeting – Friday, November 5th - These meetings are for discussing/planning upcoming events.  A Gateway update is also given by our principal, Kay Lynn Waddell.

Volunteer Needs: If you can help with costumes and/or scenery, please come to the art room at 10:00 a.m any day from November 8-11.

Empty Bowls Night - Thursday, November 18th - This very special event lets our Woodland Park students know that they can make a difference in their community through their art.  They are making bowls and donating them.  Proceeds will go to non-profit organizations helping families in our areas.

November 3rd News

Book It! Reading Program - Race to Save the Words October 2010 – March 2011
Power Up with Reading! Award certificate available each month for one free Pizza Hut Personal Pan Pizza to motivate reading.  Students may use Show & Tell time to give their book report which may include showing the book, drawing/coloring pictures, writing down the title of the book, etc.

School Pictures
Re-takes/new-takes will be in the morning for K-2 Cottage Class and in the afternoon for 3-5 Cottage Class on Thursday, Nov 4.

Science
The class is making “mock” rocks.

Spanish
The class is learning basic Spanish words: Blue–azul, White–blanco, Black–negro, Yellow-amarillo, Pink-rosado, Red-rojo, Brown-cafĂ©, Purple-morado, Orange-anaranjado, Green-verde, Home-casa, Mother-mama, Father-papa, Brother-hermano, Sister-hermana, kitchen-la cocina, dining room-el comedor, living room-la sala, bedroom-la recamara, bathroom-el bano, house-casa., Monday-lunes, Tuesday-martes, Wednesday-miercoles, Thursday-jueves, Friday-viernes, Saturday-sabado, Sunday-domingo.

Pumpkin Carving/Decorating Contest
Congratulations to Mila Hancock for placing 1st in the “Most Original” category for First Grade entries.

Fall Harvest Party
A fun time was had by all who attended.  Special guests included Willy Wonka, Harry Potter, Luke Skywalker, Olivia the Pig Princess, Ninja Warrior, Sleeping Beauty, & Rootin Tootin Cowgirl Fairy.  The refreshments were delicious and the “Silly Science” experiments were entertaining. Thanks to all who participated!

‘GIVE (Gateway Inspires Volunteers Everyday) Exchange Mtg, Wednesday, November 3, 2010 , 6:00-7:30 p.m., Gateway Cafeteria:  Focus will be “What’s new at Gateway?” There’s been a lot of changes this year including new Superintendent, newly hired school Counselor, earlier start/end times, different lunch/recess schedules, and renaming our PTO to GIVE. Guests include Superintendent Dr. Jed Bowman, Gateway counselor Greg Davis, and Gateway Principal Kay Lynn Waddell.  A meet and greet time with refreshments will begin at 6:00 p.m.  Childcare will be provided (donations welcome).  Feel free to send any specific topics or questions that you would like addressed to give@wpsd12.or or place them in the ‘GIVE Exchange Box’ located on the side table inside the front doors of the school.
