Rachel's Challenge

You are invited... Woodland Park High School September 17, 2013 Community Event:  7:00pm, Dickson Auditorium We are proud to announce that Woodland Park High School will be sharing Rachel's Challenge to their students, staff and community this year! You are invited to come hear an incredible true story of courage and hope and experience the most powerful school assembly and training program in America. Come witness the story of Rachel Scott, the first Columbine shooting victim, at our live Rachel's Challenge preview event. When Rachel was 13 years old, she traced her hands on the back of her dresser and wrote in big black letters, "These hands belong to Rachel Joy Scott and will someday touch millions of peoples' hearts".  Her life and writings have impacted over 15 million students in live settings in the last 11 years, and we hope you'll be able to come hear the inspiring true story of hope, acceptance, and redemption. Rachel's Challenge is the largest school assembly program in America.  It is designed to help school administrators, parents, and students create safer and more productive places to learn and achieve.  The goal is to motivate and equip students and administrators to embrace new values of kindness and compassion so that no one is left behind because of fear and violence in their school.  It is our mission to eradicate violence, prejudice, bullying, and overall hatred in our nation.  We are doing this by passing on the legacy of Rachel Scott nationwide in hopes that people will follow her example and accept her challenge to spread kindness and compassion to others.  Powerful footage of Rachel?s life and the Columbine tragedy holds audiences spellbound during the one hour presentation that motivates and encourages people to make positive change in the way they treat others.   http://vimeo.com/33291369   Feel free to forward this invitation to your friends, family and colleagues, as we want to give everyone the opportunity to experience our program first-hand.    We hope to see you there!

Citizenship Day

Please join us at Gateway for our annual Citizenship Day! 

Monday September 16, 2013 @ 8:00 a.m. by the front flagpole.  Ceremony will last approximately 15 minutes. WPHS band will be joining us as well. 

This is a special ceremony to honor our community helpers. We live and work in an amazing community!  Please spread the word to our local veterans, emergency service providers, law enforcement and park service. 

Science club sponsored by the Catamount Institute

(For Students in 4th & 5th Grade)

Dear Parents,

YES Club will be starting this Wednesday after school from 3:00 - 5:00 in the Panther Den. We have a few more slots for kids that are interested. YES Club is a science club sponsored by the Catamount Institute. This semester we will be studying Fire Ecology. We will take field trips to burn zones, visit a hot shot crew, work on fire mitigation, and lots of other hands on activities. We end the semester with a science symposium at Colorado College. The cost is $115 for the semester. We do have some scholarships available. Please look at the attached flyer and the registration online at the bottom of the flyer (image below).
