Are you wondering about the green bags with the butterfly on it that your children brought home?
The butterfly garden is the flower garden area right next to where we line up---totally unrelated to the other project, but our garden was made by an afterschool gardening class where students learned to be junior master gardeners.
Our current students are asked to bring in any spare change in these greens bags. (Due Sept 18th)
Students created a butterfly to enter in an auction. The auction monies are to provide art classes to kids that had to be placed in different schools than their own because school buildings closed in Colorado Springs.
The butterfly along with several others (ours and some may be viewed in front of the Pikes Peak Center in Colo. Springs) will be auctioned off at a dinner at the Briarhurst in order to raise money for art classes at the schools. Our school is going to attempt to bid enough to buy our butterfly back. Therefore, raising money for this cause but also getting –what I heard is” the best butterfly” back to display at Gateway.
