Children’s Literacy Center is a local non-profit organization offering free one-to-one tutoring for students (1st through 6th grade) reading below grade level. Our mission is to build a life of success through a foundation of literacy…ONE child at a time.
The staff at Children’s Literacy Center recognizes the difficulty of finding more time in your busy day for individualized instruction. We also know the necessity of utilizing all resources available in improving reading levels. Our commitment is to make your job easier, while maintaining quality and consistent instruction. Using the Peak Reader® curriculum, trained tutors target the child’s specific reading needs, and work to improve his or her reading level over a twelve-week period. Our program is designed to supplement your work in the classroom. If you have a student who is not currently on an IEP, and needs extra help in reading, refer your student and allow us the opportunity to help them reach their “peak”.
Attached are two forms needed for students to participate in the program. The Student Referral Form is for you to complete. TheParent Commitment Form is for the parents to complete. Once both forms have been submitted, we will contact the parents to set up a tutoring time and location. Please feel free to fax the hard copy forms to (719) 473-0439. The forms can also be completed online by going to, www.childrensliteracycenter.org .
We have a tutoring location at Woodland Park Library! Our fall session will begin Tuesday, September 17th.
We are happy to send a representative from our staff to speak to you, or any group in your community, about our Peak Reader® Program. Looking forward to partnering with you in the fight against illiteracy!
Sincerely,
Bree Abel
