WPHS Workroom newsletter 9/24

FORENSICS!  Your pieces MUST BE SELECTED BY FRIDAY THE 27th!!  That includes Oratory, and individual events!!!

If you are interested in taking environmental action this year join us for the first SOS Club meeting Wednesday morning at 7:20 in room 312.  There is sure to be granola!  If you cant make it then speak to Mr. Hovel or Mrs. Orellana to let us know you are interested.

The first FOR (Friends of Rachel) club meeting will be in the auditorium at 3:15 on Tuesday, September 24th.  We are aware that there will be some conflicts for those with after school activities and for students that ride a bus.  We will schedule the next meeting to accommodate these concerns.  Anyone who is interested in joining the FOR club to support Rachel’s message is welcome to attend.

Starting on Thursday during lunch, join book club in reading, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.  Everyone is welcome.

To All Students:  Are you a student who's making a difference through volunteering?  Apply for a 2014 Prudential Spirit of Community Award and you could win $1000 and a trip to Washington, DC, next May!  For more information come by the counseling office and talk with your counselor

Powder Puff!! Junior and Senior girls:  If you're interested in playing come by Ms. Nard's room and gen a permission slip!  Remember: it's random selection this year NOT first come first serve!

Picture re-takes at the high school are scheduled for Thursday, September 26th.  The camera will be set up in the band hallway from 11:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Students taking a picture for the first time this year need to pick up a re-take form from the front office.  Students having a replacement picture taken MUST BRING THE ORIGINAL PICTURE PACKET TO HAND IN.

To all college-bound best and brightest WPHS seniors:   If you are considering attending college in Colorado, come to the counseling office to talk with your counselor about the Boettcher Foundation Scholarship.  If you are successful through the application process, Boettcher offers a full tuition, expenses and grants scholarship for 4 years of undergraduate studies.

Homecoming week is Sept 28 - Oct 5.  Come to Swing Night on Sept 28 to begin the activities, then come to Powderpuff on Monday night!  The Parade and Bonfire are on Wednesday, Oct 2!  Line-up begins at 5:45pm!  Finish the week with the Panther's Homecoming game on Friday and the Dance on Saturday!  Go Panthers!

Aloha!!!  The Homecoming dance will be on October 5th from 8-11pm in the main gym.  Dress attire will be semi-formal:  Girls must wear dresses, and guys must wear pants and a tie.  Tickets will be sold at both lunches for $8 and will be sold for $10 at the dance door.  Bring your friends and enjoy a night in Hawaii!!!
